From Jerry Weintraub, the film's producer:
"This movie is all about Darfur," he said. "It's all about these guys (in the cast) that have been in the Sudan. They want to bring a spotlight on it."
Who knew?

What a departure from the tone of the original! Here I was thinking it was going to be *another* one of those slickly stylized, tightly orchestrated puzzle pieces with an ensemble cast of gorgeous, intelligent and witty men.... But wait a minute! Metaphorically, perhaps it is all about Darfur.... I suppose there are certain resemblances between Las Vegas and Darfur...and between charmingly rakish thieves and the National Redemption Front.... Ah, in the hands of a master, what cannot we hope for?
Casinos are a lot like Darfur. Every day is a gamble. Titter.
I saw Mr. Melinda Deslatte (that's George Clooney —Cheri, Evy, others who don't know the joke) on Leno last night and not in one clip from the movie...not one...did they go to Darfur or talk about Darfur or rob a casino in Darfur.
I'm starting to think Jerry Weintraub might be some sort of batty old man — like a crazy uncle at a family gathering who has too much to drink and then starts making inappropriate comments by the turkey.
